February 1st 2010

Birthday celebration 2010 started off with a brunch on Sunday with friends at Counter in the East Village. The day was pretty chilly but we ventured out afterwards for a good cause. MooShoes, a local vegan shoe store was having a vegan bake sale fundraiser for Haiti for the organization Doctors Without Borders. The sale ended up raising over $5000 and I won a prize from the donation raffle they had! From there we walked around the city finding whatever we came across, including a cool ice decoration display on some scafolding. Later we finally saw AVATAR in 3D. On Monday, my b-day day... Chris and I spent the day relaxing and wandering around the city, mostly eating. It was a great 2 day celebration!

Halloween 2009!

Halloween was so fun this year! As usual we hit the streets of Manhattan for some entertain looks at all the creative costumes. We started off the night at PUKK for dinner, a yearly routine and then headed around town. It was actually raining so we decided to move the party inside for a little Karaoke. It was a blast! We all had a fantastic time!

A little bit of Fall this year '09

Fall is upon us! It became chilly quite quickly this weekend. Chris' Dad was in town and we spent this chilly Saturday walking around the city. We first got treated with Brunch at Candle 79. So mouth watering. Check out that dessert. YUM!

Utah! Fall '09

My first official trip to Salt Lake City was fantastic! I wasn't sure on what to expect but it was beautiful. Luckily it had snowed in the mountains the day before I arrived leaving puffy white clouds and snow topped trees and mountains mixed with the already fall colors the first day I was there. It was so puuurty. The actual downtown of SLC reminded me of Davis CA or some older college town. Besides visiting the canyon between the Rocky Mountains, I also went out to the Salt Flats and the Great Salt Lake. Of course I can't leave out FOOD... we had plenty of it. Salt Lake has some amazing vegan food restaurants!

California - Fall '09

Made it out to California after being absent there for over a year! Unfortunately didn't have time to visit everyone but I did get a few days to relax down at the beach. It was fantastic! The water was warmer than outside. Chris and I even went snorkeling and saw lots of orange Garibaldi fishes.

Baby Eisley!

On my recent trip to San Diego I got the pleasant surprise my friend Mark and his wife Leanne had a newborn baby! Just 14 days young when I met her...Eisley showed me all sides of her personality during our photo shoot.

Rooftops and Cotton Candy Skies

On the 4th of July we had one of the most amazing sunsets I've seen here in NYC. The cloud formations were beautiful and the sunset lasted all evening til the sky was booming with fireworks...

Manhattanhedge

Hey check this out... only twice a year will you see a sunset like this in Manhattan, a perfect alignment between the east and west axis of the streets grid... representing the summer solstice and winter solstice.

Sugar! ...and Jersey

Headed to New Jersey over the weekend for a vegan treats adventure! First stop was a pancake house in Rutherford, down the street from there was an all vegan cupcake shop, yummy! And the last stop was up north west in Boonton where we stocked up on Belgian Chocolates, oh my!

BLISS SHOW!

I was recently able to hang some of my polroid transfers up at BLISS cafe, a local place I frequent often for brunch on the weekends! It was a fun chance to actually "show" the pieces.

Winter Holidays '08

December here was pretty cold and mostly spent indoors. We did venture out to the city on Christmas and as you can see the Empire State Building was in full color for the day. The rest of the shots are from NYE. We had a pizza party at the Stronghold!!! Yum!

Bandit!

It's taken me a while to make this post debuting BANDIT! We found this kitten late one night outside of Chris's building a couple of months ago now. The next day when I took him to the vet he only weighed 1.8 pounds. Chris decided to keep him and he is the cutest thing ever! Now he is growing into a strong teenager and just figured out how to climb and jump into the loft bed...

Finally, SNOW!

Our first snow fall finally arrived! It was a blizzard all day until it turned into an ice storm and all the pretty snow turned into the NYC brown sludge. It was peaceful while it lasted...

Halloween is coming!

We had some pre halloween fun at the stronghold, baked halloween sugar cookies and carved a pumpkin. Also watched a "scary" movie...

Austin BATS!!!

On my trip to Austin, Ryann took me to the bridge where every night around 1.5 million bats fly out from there home under the bridge to go out and feed... Experiencing this was pretty awesome eventhough I got some bat poop on me.

Banksy NYC!

A Banksy art exhibit hit the streets of NYC yesterday in a mock pet store in the west village. Banksy is a UK-based graffiti street artist, who is known for his anonymous identity, will randomly exhibit his art throughout the world addressing serious social issues with a comedic twist. In this latest installation here in NYC he goes about showing "our relationship with animals and the ethics and sustainability of factory farming."
All the animals and food creatures that were created move and make noise! This exhibit is pretty awesome and hits the issue right on the "nose".
